Thank you for your interest in applying for the City, University of London, Student Exchange Programme. Before completing this application please read the guidance notes thoroughly. The guidance notes will have been provided in your City: SASS Exchange Application email.


 Applicants must:

  • Be currently enrolled as a student at one of City, University of London's Partner Universities
  • Have completed at least one full year of undergraduate study
  • Have a good academic record
  • Be nominated by your university

A completed application comprises the following:

  1. Completed application form (this form)
  2. An certified Statement of Academic results, translated into English, where required.  (upload to this form in Section 11 prior to submission)
  3. Evidence of English Language proficiency (upload to this form in Section 11 prior to submission)
  4. A copy of your passport (upload to this form in Section 11 prior to submission)
  5. Academic Reference (an automated request is sent to your nominated referee when this form is submitted)

When completing this application:
  • Please use English letter only, without accents or symbols. The information in this form is automatically uploaded to our student records system, which struggles to recognise the symbols.   • If successful you will be issued with an offer letter, a Short-term Student Visa letter or Tier 4 Visa CAS Statement, where required, and details of your next steps in preparing for study at City, University of London.

SECTION 4: Proposed Exchange Programme

Standard requirement at City: 30 ECTS = 60 UK Credits per semester/60 ECTS = 120 UK Credits per year
SECTION 5: Language Competence

In this section we would like you to indicate your levels of English Language proficiency.

Please provide details of your current level of English Language Proficiency.

Please list any courses you have taken for English as a Foreign Language, or courses where English was the language of instruction.

If you have scheduled an English Proficiency test such as IELTS, then please provide the date of your scheduled test.

Providing Evidence of English Language Proficiency

If English is not your first language we will need to see evidence of your English Language Proficiency.

Please use the Document Submission point in Section 11 of this application to upload your evidence of English language proficiency.
SECTION 6: Personal Statement

Please provide a personal statement, of no more than 500 words, explaining why you wish to take part in the exchange programme at City,  University of London and why you wish to study in the UK.

Module/Course choice:
In your personal Statement, you may wish to reference the modules you are interested in taking and your reasons. Successful applicants will be given the opportunity to make their official module choices in the months prior to the start of the exchange. Each year's course schedule is usually finalised and communicated to students in July & November.

When writing your personal statement, save a version in Word and copy into this section. This will ensure you do not loose your text.
SECTION 7: Academic Reference

Please provide the contact details of your chosen academic referee. This must be an academic member of staff at your current university, who is in the best position to discuss your suitability for the exchange programme.

Please ask the permission of your referee before naming them in this application.

You must also ensure that the email address provided is correct, as the reference request will be automatically generated and emailed to your referee when you submit this application. An incorrect email address will delay the assessment of your application.

When you submit your application please inform your referee that they should expect to receive a reference request via email from SASS.Exchanges@city.ac.uk. They should also check their junk mail as a precaution. If your referee has not received a reference request within 4 days of the submission of your application, then please email SASS.Exchanges@city.ac.uk for guidance.

SECTION 9: Special Needs

The university welcomes applications from students with special needs and considers them on the same academic grounds as those from other candidates. It is very useful to know about any special needs in advance so that we can discuss what facilities are available in the university.

SECTION 10: Your Nomination

Your application will not be considered until we receive confirmation of your official nomination from our partner university. Applications from universities where no partnership agreement exists will not be considered. For a full list of all our partner universities, please review our Exchange programme website.

SECTION 11: Document Submission
This section allows you to upload your application's supporting documentation, such as transcripts of results, English Language Proficiency certificates, a scanned copy of your passport or any other documents you would like us to review as part of your application.
Remember: this must be a certified copy, translated into English where required.
